“Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.”

Call to Action:

Sometimes seasons in life, make us feel powerless, inept, unworthy, or simply just bored. All of these emotions play a part in the confusion of a believers psyche. So Prophet Isaiah attempts to simplify it. He says, “Shake yourself from the dust,” eluding that what may seem to hold you down, becomes weightless in the presence of God. His presence declutters your mind so that authentic worship can take place. Then, Isaiah adds something to speak to those hindered by the aggravation of the enemy. ARISE and SIT DOWN!! Without revelation, this may only add to your confusion. But, with the proper context it encourages your heart. Arise and Sit Down may sound like “Shut up, and keep talking” or “Hurry up and Wait!” An oxymoronic command at face value. But with revelation, Isaiah shows us that when we stand in God’s presence, we sit in the seat of authority! It’s ONLY from the seat of authority can we free ourselves from the unauthorized “bands” or agreements/plans of evil works that the enemy has for our lives. Get to that place TODAY in prayer. It is the FULL desire of God that we be freed from anything that holds us back from worshiping Him in Spirit, and in Truth!
